Light falling on objects transforms them, as shadows dissolve something apparently solid, or create boundaries which disappear over time.

The Light Piece uses a fragmentation of colour to transform, momentarily, elements in a given environment. Figures passing through this divided light cast multiple, incomplete shadows, fragments of colour as impermanent as the surfaces on which they appear.

This projection of fragile forms onto architectural structures creates an inversion in customary scale, shifting, if only for an instant, the relative significance of the elements that constitute an urban context.

The work was performed in collaboration with dancer Lynn Santos at the Festival Theatre, Adelaide, the Adelaide Laneway Festival, Melbourne Museum, and the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
