Time and the other, 2019
23 used leather gloves (singles), wax, steel, wood tables
84 x 230 x 60 cm, 74 x 230 x 60 cm
Finding single gloves always raises questions: where is the matching glove, and what story is there behind the lines and creases worn into the leather?
I have been collecting used leather gloves for several years, finding them in op shops or sometimes just lying on the street.
On worn leather or wood traces left by past use echo the presence of a time or a person no longer here.
This ongoing work explores the mystery of this connection through time.
